I just wanted to put out a dedicated thank you post to Luke….
In February, Luke joined as a supporter of MHFC, which I was very grateful for.
Then in October, when I saw he’d received his new Sketches boots during the season, on the off chance I messaged asking if MHFC could have and raffle off his old pair, with the money raised going to MHFC Doncaster sessions.
These are the boots that he’d worn during the title-winning season and that he was in the team of the season, as well as winning a lot of the club awards.
Very quickly, he responded saying that it was absolutely fine and he’d be happy to do that 😮
This was also at a time when Luke and his family were mourning the loss of a very much loved family member.
(I put Luke under no pressure to sort it at this moment, I was happy to wait until a better time, and I made this clear to him)
A few weeks later, we met up at the stadium where he gifted MHFC not one but two pairs of match-worn boots and signed them all.
Heather from Club Doncaster kindly took the photos of Molyneux, the boots and me.
Usually in these situations, I’m not so anxious, but I was due to it being like a photo shoot, but thankfully Heather and Luke were absolutely fantastic with me, and it went really well.
I’d never led a photo shoot before, I knew the photos I wanted in my head, and even though written down it was only 5 with Luke, I felt very anxious that it was asking a lot and after Luke being so generous and supportive, that it would push things too far and annoy him.
I sent an email to Heather saying my thoughts and ideas, and thankfully with her experience, she took the lead and sorted everything perfectly, taking all the pressure off me, and it helped immensely.
I definitely have more respect for photographers during photo shoots now!!
The raffle raised £275 for MHFC Doncaster, the other pair will hopefully be framed in the MHFC office or potentially raffled at a later date.
So Luke, thank you for your generosity and the support, he didn’t have to do any of the above, but he was more than happy to…. What a guy!!
